For this amazing position, kiruv must be your passion! Seeking recruiter and community liaison to join our recruitment team for TheZone Kiruv Camp.
Travel the U.S. and beyond to bring new campers into the Oorah family. Host events and meet principals and community leaders.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills are required.
This is a full-time, Lakewood NJ-based position.
O: What does the position entail?
TS: It consists of going to many schools – each one a few times during the school year to visit and check in with campers to create hype about coming back to camp and to interest their friends in applying as well.
This position also entails doing presentations and open houses in various communities and schools nationwide to parents and kids of all ages. The recruiter meets one-on-one to follow up with families over coffee or dinner to get to know them and encourage them to sign up for TheZone.
Our recruiters also build connections with community leaders and kiruv professionals to build our reach and contact base.
O: So is this job completely on the road and travel-based?
TS: Our recruiters come into the office at least one day a week to enter all new contacts and families into our database, to follow up on connections created in each community, to plan and gather materials for upcoming trips, and to meet and touch base with the rest of the camp and recruitment team. It’s a full time position. Although not 9-5, it’s a full 40-hour work week.
O: What do you love about working for Oorah and TheZone?
TS: I love that this is a purposeful job. Every single day, if I have done my job well, I have brought Jewish families closer together.
O: What kind of person would enjoy this job?
TS: The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated, organized, personable and charismatic individual who is very comfortable meeting new people, loves to travel, and has a flexible schedule. We are looking for someone who enjoys walking into a roomful of strangers and walking out with a room full of friends.
The most important thing to know about this position is that sincerity sells. The recruiter has to believe in what we’re selling: TheZone is more than just a camp. So too, this is more than just a job, it’s a real mission.
O: What’s the best part about working for the camp department?
TS: The kids! Giving kids an opportunity to meet people from all over, to use their strengths and talents to the fullest, to grant them an experience of a lifetime and watching every kid smile from ear to ear is, for me, the most fulfilling benefit of this department.
