This is a full-time, Lakewood-based position. Hours are 9 am – 5 pm.
O.P.: Well, just like it sounds, our job is to purchase! It’s a super-exciting job, because there’s always something new going on. We can be involved in researching and buying anything from airline tickets to office supplies to prizes for campers. There are so many departments within Oorah, and each of them has their own list of products and equipment that they need ordered.
Q: Do I need any special skills to become a Purchaser?
O.P.: Good judgement and street-smarts are essential to the job, since you’ll need to be able to research and make decisions for a wide range of purposes. Of course, people-skills are important when it comes to negotiating both within and out of the office.
Q: What does a day of work look like for you?
O.P.: Because of the nature of the job, no day is going to look exactly the same. Each day, we come in, check what everyone needs, and get started. Like I said before, there’s never a dull moment!
